American Data Network Director Delivers Good Catch Presentation at 10th Annual Meeting of PSOs
Stephanie Iorio, BSN, RN, CPHQ, delivered a presentation titled, Planning and Implementing a Statewide Good Catch Campaign, at the 10th Annual Meeting of Patient Safety Organizations held April 18-19 in Rockville, Md. The meeting, conducted at the Agency for Healthcare Research and Quality headquarters, is produced annually and exclusively for the workforce of Federally-listed PSOs. The gathering is designed to facilitate sharing of successes and discussion of challenges within in PSOs across the country.
Iorio, who serves as director of ADN PSO, was invited to speak and provide details from concept to final results and lessons learned on ADN PSO’s transformational near miss campaign, which was run in 45 Arkansas hospitals in 2017. The Good Catch campaign offered participating organizations opportunities to strengthen their culture of safety through reporting, reveal process and system vulnerabilities, and develop and implement proactive data-driven improvement activities. The campaign was based on the belief that empowering hospital staff to speak up stands as one of the most impactful ways of fortifying a trustworthy organizational culture of safety.
Phyllis Ragland, Clinical Patient Safety Advisor, and Kevin Robbins, Manager, Information Systems, also represented ADN PSO at the meeting. In addition to sharing Arkansas’ Good Catch story with conference attendees, they listened and collected information and ideas that can be used to enhance the products, services, and programs ADN PSO offers its members.
American Data Network PSO, established in 2009, was the first federally-designated Patient Safety Organization established in Arkansas and authorized to work with hospitals to improve patient care through voluntary reporting of patient safety events and professional analysis of shared data.
