The Agency for Healthcare Research & Quality is making funding available for research projects in two areas: preventing healthcare-associated infections (HAI) and efforts for Combating Antibiotic-Resistant Bacteria (CARB).

HAI research projects should advance the knowledge of infection detection, prevention, and reduction of HAIs. CARB research projects proposals should address ways to promote appropriate antibiotic use, reduce the transmission of resistant bacteria, or prevent HAIs from occurring in the first place.

Researchers in all healthcare settings including long-term care, ambulatory care, acute care hospitals, and those focusing on transitions between care settings are encouraged to submit an application for the funds by the October 5, 2017 deadline.
