Download AHRQ’s 2016 National Healthcare Quality & Disparities Report

For the 14th year in a row, the Association for Healthcare Research & Quality has released its National Healthcare Quality and Disparities Report, which is mandated by Congress to provide an overview of care quality provided to the general United States population as well as a look at any  differences in care felt by various racial and socioeconomic groups.

While the 2016 report does show continued improvement in areas such as “person-centered care”and the number of insured patients seeking care, it also shows that most disparities continued to persist, with no significant improvements for any racial or ethnic groups.

AHRQ has also updated its Chartbook on Patient Safety which serves as a companion resource to the quality and disparities report. The guide provides new data on dozens of safety measures, including the rate of central line-associated bloodstream infections which decreased by more than 40 percent between 2009 and 2014.
