AHRQ Resources Target Diagnosis, Prevention and Treatment of C. difficile
The Agency for Healthcare Research & Quality has published new evidence-based resources intended to help clinicians and patients make informed decisions regarding the diagnosis, prevention, and treatment of the dangerous Clostridium difficile infection (CDI), which can develop in the large intestine.
Diagnosis, Prevention, and Treatment of C. difficile: Current State of the Evidence is a clinician summary of findings from a systematic review which looked at evidence regarding the accuracy of diagnostic tests and success of specified treatments and prevention techniques used to combat CDI. The agency has also made available a more simply written companion document, Treating and Preventing C. difficile Infections, aimed at helping patients and their caregivers talk about treatment options for CDI.
