patientonvent.300The Armstrong Institute for Patient Safety and Quality at Johns Hopkins Medicine will host a FREE webinar, designed to help hospitals improve outcomes for patients on mechanical ventilation, at 2 p.m. ET on Thursday, May 7 , 2015.

The Institute is looking for hospitals to collaborate on a project aimed at shortening the amount of time patients are kept on mechanical ventilation with a goal of preventing short-term consequences, like pneumonia, as well as long-term repercussions including lasting physical disabilities, cognitive dysfunction and psychiatric issues. In addition to learning a practical approach to implementing  evidence-based interventions to improve outcomes, participating organizations will take significant steps toward the development of a culture of safety through the use of the Comprehensive Unit-based Safety Program or CUSP.
