Quality Data for Psychiatric Facilities Now Available on Hospital Compare Site
According to a press release issued by the Centers for Medicare & Medicaid Services, quality measures from the Inpatient Psychiatric Facility Quality Reporting Program (IPFQR) are available for the first time on the agency’s Hospital Compare website as of April 17, 2014.
The data includes information collected in 1,753 inpatient psychiatric facilities during the period from October 1. 2012 through March 31, 2013. CMS intends for this information to help patients and families in making more informed decisions when faced with the need for psychiatric care. More specifically, the data will allow a comparison of facilities based on the following measures:
- Hours of Physical Restraint Use
- Hours of Seclusion Use
- Post-Discharge Continuing Care Plan Created
- Post-Discharge Continuing Care Plan Transmitted to Next Level of Care Provider Upon Discharge
