NatHealthITWeek2012_1Next week, September 16 – 20, public and private sector organizations will join together to participate in the 8th Annual National Health IT Week to promote the advancement of health information technology to improve healthcare.  National Health IT Week 2013 is the premier event that offers all healthcare stakeholders an opportunity to unite under one banner: One Voice, One Vision.

Initiated in 2006 by the Healthcare Information and Management Systems Society (HIMSS), National Health IT Week has emerged as a landmark occasion for using health IT as part of the overall solution to improve America’s healthcare system.  Partners and sponsors of Health IT Week agree that comprehensive healthcare reform is not possible without system-wide adoption of health information technology, including tools like Meaningful Use compliant electronic health records, developed to improve the quality of healthcare delivery, increase patient safety, decrease medical errors and strengthen patient/provider engagement and communication.

Health IT Week consists of events in Washington, D.C. and across the country through which vendors, providers, payers, pharmaceutical and biotech companies, government agencies, professional associations, research foundations, and consumer protection groups work together to draw national attention to the significance of health IT.
